John Schulze, LPC
Child, Adolescent, & Adult Therapist

Life can often be difficult. Making changes in our lives can be even more difficult, but it does not have to be that way. Professional counseling can help us explore our unhealthy beliefs, behaviors, and relationships, as well as clarify our values and goals. I believe counseling is a collaborative process where we come to understand ourselves better and develop strategies to make healthy changes. We cannot change our past, but we can come to terms with it and choose to have a healthy future. I look forward to hearing from you and helping you bring about positive, lasting change in your life.

I obtained my Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology in 1992 at Illinois State University.

I feel I have developed an integrative approach that uses CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution Focused Therapy. I also incorporate mindfulness techniques in order to build healthy coping skills and bring about positive change.

I obtained my Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology in 1992 at Illinois State University.  I worked as a therapist for over 20 years in Bloomington, Illinois.  My first job was at Catholic Social Service as a family therapist for 4 years, and then at the McLean County Center for Human Services (MCCHS) for over 18 years.  During my time at MCCHS I held several positions including child and adolescent outreach therapist, adult outpatient therapist, and coordinator for the outpatient program.  I also had a small private practice in Normal, Illinois in which I saw children, adolescents, adults, families and couples.  My family and I moved to Raleigh in July of 2015.
